Be Present

Being present is a practice.

A fabulously brutiful one too.

The past has wrapped. The future is not yet ours.

Being present offers us the space to breath, to take in what we HAVE even as we seek for more of what we desire.

Past or future-tripping is just that—tripping over time, losing the time we have RIGHT NOW by centering our focus on time we no longer occupy or have yet to embrace.

I offer these thoughts as a fellow student of the ‘present practice.’ Being present is something I strive for daily — with people and myself. Some days I nail it; other days I completely crash and burn. Today was a mix of the two.

I’ve noticed one thing every time I’m present though. LOVE SHOWS UP. Being present with others is actually being love to them. Being present with ourselves is being love to ourselves.

We may not always call it by that name but indeed, it is love. Love can show up in a team meeting, in a coaching session, at the dog park, in a text message, in the hospital waiting room, at the bus-stop, in an Instagram scroll.

And if there’s ever an answer, it’s more love.

So let’s be love by being present.
