Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? ~Mary Oliver
Welcome to December
December is upon us — whether we celebrate this month’s holidays or not, this season invites us to return to our roots and welcome the end of the year with tradition, action, and reflection.
The holiday season can be both a gift and a deep practice of courage. Family gatherings, travel, making new memories with new people, or flying solo through the festivities all ask of our courage in unique ways.
choose courage & Joy
Comfort and joy may be the favorite phrase yet it is actually courage and joy that brings us authentically home to ourselves.
No matter what this year has held for us thus far, December gives us another fresh opportunity to begin again. We needn’t wait until the New Year. We’ve got thirty more days to lean toward what we enjoy, shed what no longer serves, and consciously move toward what we really desire.
TWELVE WAYS TO PRACTICE COURAGE
Here are 12 empowering ways to practice courage with yourself and others this December.
Show up when you are able, exactly as you are
Exercise healthy boundaries for your own well-being and self-care
Be present to your emotions
Be present to others
Listen to your body and its energy
Engage in courageous conversations
Ask follow-up questions to deepen understanding
Do what really matters; leave the rest
Prioritize self-care and personal time
Release what isn’t yours to carry
Choose what you really, really want rather than just what is front of you
Lean into what brings you joy
However you spend this month, may December bring you home to what really matters to you. How will you practice courage this month? Share your wisdom with us in the comments below.
